Blockfall is a prototype game inspired by CRUED (Cognitive Reality Using Enterprise Data).
CRUED has leveraged our visualization environment and UI/UX design to tune into a human’s ability to understand and manipulate data. Using HTC ViVe and Oculus Quest platforms, Blockfall proved to be so popular with our research subjects that it inspired us to build out the game.
Built in the Unity game engine, the objective is to select pins which are standing still, while other pins on a board begin to fall. Scoring measured the speed and accuracy of differentiating and selecting the anomalies. The game also measured how quickly an individual can learn new skills. We determined that most people can adapt to the environment quickly and their skills rapidly improved.
