Step into biology
Step Into Biology (SIB) is a multiplayer augmented reality (AR) educational platform that brings abstract biological functions to life through interactive, collaborative classroom experiences. By turning static lessons into dynamic, hands-on simulations, SIB supports a wide range of learning styles and deepens conceptual understanding.
Designed to be accessible and cost-effective, SIB reduces the need for expensive field trips and minimizing classroom setup time by 66%, allowing educators to focus more on teaching and less on managing technology.

Educational Challenges
- Abstract biological concepts are difficult for students to visualize and comprehend
Traditional biology instruction lacks engagement and interactivity - Students have diverse learning styles that aren't adequately addressed by conventional teaching methods
- Low retention rates for complex biological vocabulary and concepts
Practical Classroom
Challenges
Challenges
- Field trips are expensive, logistically challenging, and environmentally unfriendly (carbon emissions from buses)
- Limited access to realistic simulation environments for biological education
- Need for differentiated and personalized learning experiences
- Difficulty integrating modern technology into science curriculum effectively

Feedback
“My students understood the technology intuitively, having used AR style technology before, and had minimal trouble setting up the field trip once we moved the desks and created enough space to explore. In the past, I used a paper activity to teach this concept, which took up to three 45-minute class periods for the students to cut out the materials they needed, put them together to demonstrate the processes of transcription and translation, and discuss and answer questions. However, after about 15 minutes, my students already understood the process at about the same depth that they did after the paper-based assignment but with much less effort and time.”

“As a sci-tech educational consultant I see the newest educational programs, but Step Into Biology is really unique. The interactivity and the cutting-edge AR truly bring the subject matter to life. The future of immersive education is definitely here and it’s very exciting.”
