Somewhere deep in the digital vaults of engineering companies, there are tools, dashboards, and systems - technically brilliant and rigorously engineered - that have been shelved like the Ark of the Covenant at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. They’re collecting dust, not because they didn’t work, but because they need a human-centered design shot-in-the-arm to transform them from complex brilliance to tools that are as beautiful as they are intuitive and useful.
You know what we’re referring to - these are the products of genius-level back-end development paired with front-end experiences that left users frustrated, overwhelmed, or disengaged. Like the forgotten relics boxed away at the end of Indiana Jones, these systems hold immense value, but they’ve been buried beneath layers of difficult to use interfaces, outdated workflows, or poor visual communication.
Chances are, if you’re working at an engineering company you’ve experienced this. You know there’s a good chance that these types of digital components and systems were made to spec, on budget, and on time. But they’re hard to use and it’s harder to find people that want to use them.
What if those forgotten assets could be reborn?
At Zoic Labs, we specialize in breathing new life into precisely these kinds of underutilized digital components. By applying human-centered design, modern UX/UI strategy, and deep storytelling expertise, we transform "good enough" systems into indispensable tools. It's not about starting from scratch, it’s about unlocking the potential already embedded in your technology. Whether it's a data visualization platform, an internal logistics tool, or a mission-critical dashboard, we utilize Experience Engineering to help organizations like yours bring components out of the digital attic and into the field. Where it belongs.
For the Army, we reimagined a training management platform that had become stagnant and ignored - our structural and aesthetic vision gave the clients an understanding and feel for how it would operate. Once we created a vision reel for buy-in, and the clients saw that there was a lot of opportunity, it was go-time. The state of execution built excitement on both sides as we were able to breathe new life into the project and get it back on the rails and into purposeful use.
We’ve proven the value of scavenging for parts and polishing them with human-centered design to make them functional in today’s world.
Ultimately, our goal is to create common operating platforms where various components work together in pain free ways. We want to join unparalleled components from multiple sources to create systems that are sleek, connected, and unified. Additionally, we want to segment complex components into à la carte offerings that can be plugged into various systems to suit client needs. The future we envision consists of component-based, human-centered suites of tools that can be seamlessly adapted to deliver for a host of operators, fighters, and commanders.
We’re Zoic Labs, and we believe Experience Engineering with human-centered design goes beyond aesthetics - it’s a force multiplier that ensures your digital systems are highly functional and efficient for distinctive teams, allowing them to move quickly and intuitively. It accelerates engineering and product development by enabling rapid prototyping, which drives early user testing and feedback.
This approach reduces costly revisions, improves speed and efficiency, and ensures a more intuitive, robust, and scalable platform. By aligning user needs with technical feasibility from the start, our teams deliver higher-performing products faster and at lower cost.
Through our work with a diverse mix of government and commercial clients, we blend principles from UX/UI, psychology, advanced tech, and storytelling to create seamless, secure, and human-centered experiences for both digital and physical interfaces. From XR to web tools to game mechanics, our team builds systems that work like your best operator: intuitive, reliable, and mission-aligned.
